 ASEC Blue Christmas
 Sunday, December 7, 2008

During the Christmas season each year, the Sanggunian gathers all the street children roaming Katipunan Road and brings them into the Ateneo campus. The students spend a day with the kids playing games, eating, giving gifts, and praying, in the hope of sharing Christmas in a meaningful, enjoyable and fun way.

This year, the ATENEO STUDENT EXCHANGE COUNCIL once again participated in this activity by hosting 2 SOCCER CLASSES.

One of the younger kids, concentrating on the ball.

ASEC's Blue Christmas Version of 300. Once we taught the kids the basics, we let them engage in a game. Strategy and rules aside, every man for the ball!!

Some of the volunteers: Top: Christian, Yuki
Bottom: Katja, Andrea, a faci from Blue Christmas and Wanwan

Older girls practicing their kicks.
Paco, a volunteer, plays with one of the children.

Anela and Jerica with two year old Renren, who ate and ran around all day.

As the class came to an end, everyone was happy. The kids wanted their picture taken; some of the volunteers joined in too!

After the event, ASEC treated the volunteers to a couple of pizzas at Shakeys, as thanks for a job well done.

 ASEC joins Blue Christmas
 Saturday, November 15, 2008

It starts with only ONE spark...
It starts with only ONE star...
It starts with YOU.

The tradition continues:
BLUE CHRISTMAS 2008:
Stars All Over The World
on November 29, 2008

What is Blue Christmas?
During the Christmas season each year, the Sanggunian gathers all the street children roaming Katipunan Road and brings them into the Ateneo campus. The students spend a day with the kids playing games, eating, giving gifts, and praying, in the hope of sharing Christmas in a meaningful, enjoyable and fun way.

What can I do to help?
ASEC will be hosting TWO (2) soccer classes for Blue Christmas this year; 25 kids per class. We need your help to make this event memorable for the children! :D
ASEC is looking for volunteers to help set-up and help in facilitating the class. Knowledge of the sport is not necessary to join.
Help us give the children a memorable Christmas!
SEND AN EMAIL TO asec.world@yahoo.com to join!
SEE YOU THERE!

 ASEC Departments
 Sunday, October 26, 2008

ASEC is made up of 4 departments where tasks are delegated in order to function efficiently.

HUMAN RESOURCES
is responsible for organizing activities within the organization, in charge of the organization’s correspondence within Ateneo, and shall facilitate formation, evaluation, and training of ASEC members.

OUTBOUND STUDENT EXCHANGE
is the new branch of ASEC that deals with the preparation and process of sending students abroad. The branch prepares students to be proficient in sharing our culture with students of other countries. OSE also organizes the Japan-Philippines Exchange Program which sends two qualified ASEC members to SISEC, a partner org in Sophia University which is located in the heart of Tokyo.

OSE is also continuously searching for partner orgs and schools that can be possible destinations of ASEC members in the future. In other words, the entire branch is ASEC's PR to the rest of the world, and while it can be difficult at times, it is very fulfilling.

INBOUND STUDENT EXCHANGE
is responsible for providing support and assistance to inbound (both local and foreign) students, guests, and delegates. The department is also responsible for promoting to the inbound student exchange the richness and diversity of the Philippines. The ASEC-OIP affairs will be handled by the OIP Liaison under this department. The department is also responsible for the organization’s correspondence with local cultural offices and organizations and in coordinating functions and activities for foreign and local guests.

FINANCE AND MARKETING

Is in charge of handling all of ASEC’s finances to ensure a positive account balance of the organization’s funds. It will also provide project managers with the necessary skills to handle all financial and marketing aspects of their respective projects. This is the go-to committee when it comes to finding, contracting and encouraging sponsors for various projects of all departments.
